Kuya-Ate Mentorship Program (KAMP)
KAMP is a student initiated and student led retention program that targets, but not exclusive to, the Pilipinx community. “Pilipinx” is an identity term that is meant to be gender expansive, acknowledging that there are multiple gender identities within our community. Our program is housed under the Filipino Student Association (FSA) and Engaging Education (E²). KAMP consists of academic, social, and cultural programming as well as a big brother/big sister mentorship program. By implementing smaller communities through a family system of mentorship, we allow for people to connect on different levels in hopes of individuals finding other individuals that remind them of comfort and of home, which can encourage them to stay in school. All of our programming is based on our members’ needs and interests as we aim to create a strong communal atmosphere that provides students with the outlets that they need to maintain through the college experience.
